Crossover: Supernatural/Dexter
Disclaimer: You know the drill.
Type: Gen
Word Count: ~32,000
Spoilers: Season 5 Supernatural, Season 4ish Dexter. This story takes place somewhere midway through season 5 of Supernatural. I've taken liberties with Dexter to get it to match up, but it's set approximately between season 3 and season 4.

It's been a crazy week for Miami Metro: Three teenage girls found with their throats torn out. A fourth is missing. And then there's the rash of decapitations. There's no link between any of them save for a common crime scene, and nothing's adding up. It's been a good week for Dexter - a break from the ennui of the routine of his perfect suburban life. Besides, he's a little better at putting two and two together than his colleagues are and the total of this latest spate of weirdness keeps coming up Dean Winchester.

It's a prize Dexter can hardly resist: a notorious mass murder who has eluded the law time and time again - to say nothing of convincingly faking his death several times. Dexter intends to fix that. It'll stick this time: he'll see to it.

There's just one problem, and it's about to bite Dexter in the ass: Nothing is ever simple when it comes to the Winchesters.
Author’s Notes:  Many, many, many thanks to my betas: the lovely and talented [info]moragmacpherson  and [info]honeylocusttree . Any and all errors are mine. They deserve kudos for not strangling me every time I asked them to look something over quickly and at the last minute.  Thanks also to [info]attempt_unique  for her kickass art and awesome playlist (and, it must be said, for also refraining from strangling me.) Check it out: Here.

OMG! Its uncanny the amount of happiness that seeing this finally posted brings me!! I actually squealed out lout *g*
I should totally be working on my BB this afternoon... instead, guess what I'll be doing? *g*

*huge grin*

I know what I'm doing with *my* afternoon. :)

*jumps around*

I hope you enjoy it. have to admit, I'm kind of at the point where I want to take this fic out back and shoot it.

This sounds awesome! Would there be a PDF version available in the future?

I hadn't thought of it, but I don't see why not. Give me a couple days to get it all posted elsewhere and I'll see what I can do. (And that way I can get rid of all the typos I only ever seem to find after posting, hah.)

Oh MAN. The thought of Dexter on the Winchesters' tail makes me hella nervous, but I can't wait to check this out.

I had to rec you at SOR! \o/

that's a freaking epic art! fantastic for this story :)

It really is. She did a fantastic job. There's more, if you haven't seen it, at the art post.

I've never watched Dexter, so reading his voice was interesting (especially knowing that people like him as a character, and have sympathy for him). His twisted logic was quite chilling, especially when from my perspective, I know the Winchesters so well, and know how mistaken Dexter is.

I loved the sequence with the ghost, how the boys just take it all in their stride these days, and how Dexter is totally flummoxed by it all in the end. Setting it mid season 5 gave the perfect rationale and made the mood weary yet amusing at the same time.

You mention time stamps - yay! I shall definitely keep an eye out for those!

Thank you! I'm hoping to have one up sometime this week.

I found this story yesterday in the sncross_bigbang masterlist and wow! I'm so, so glad I did because you made a really great job of it. I really liked reading it from Dexter's POV - and you write him epic, by the way - and the general plot of the story was awesome.

I have to say one of my favourite parts was Deb's reaction to Castiel telling her Harry was proud of her, hah! It was perfect and made me chuckle. The end with Dean waving at Dexter as he passed was fun too. I've never thought of merging these universes together but they work! Awesome story.

It was really, really great:> I stopped watching Dexter some time ago (after season 4) and it was very entertaining for me to once again find myself in Dexter's head. Winchester's case was interesting and their characters and Cas' were captured quite well.
I have some question, what the demon wanted from vampires in the exchange for her help? she couldn't by her own catch Winchesters? it was Meg, right? Alistair apprentice and so on... if it was Apocalypse time she would have help from other demons as a true Lucifer's follower, as I remember well...

THank you for reading! The demon is just a plain old OC demon, as there's a level of personal vendetta between Meg and the Winchesters that might have spun things in a somewhat different direction. Generic OC demon is smart enough to know that tackling the winchesters head-on- especially with Castiel in the picture- will probably turn out badly. The help she is getting from the vampires is to use them to set a trap for the Winchesters. They're bait and misdirection combined.

I had fun reading this. Thank you.

excellent fic, but where's the second time stamp mentioned above? There's no link to it here....

Thanks! I'm afraid that there isn't a second time-stamp. I started it, but never got around to finishing it. It, like the first, was intended to be a Dean POV, this time of the scene of Dexter at home through the confrontation with Sam.
